Toddlers 12 to 18 Months
In the Caterpillars-1 group, our daily schedule is thoughtfully designed to support the growing curiosity and developmental milestones of toddlers aged 12 to 18 months. The day begins with a warm greeting and free play, where toddlers explore age-appropriate toys that encourage early problem-solving and sensory exploration. Teachers provide one-on-one interactions during this time, fostering secure attachments and helping children transition smoothly into the day. Circle Time introduces songs, finger plays, and stories that stimulate early language development and build listening skills, all while keeping the activities short and engaging to match toddlers’ attention spans.
Mid-morning, toddlers engage in hands-on activities like stacking blocks, sorting objects by colour, and simple art projects such as scribbling with crayons. These activities develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early cognitive abilities. Outdoor play follows, where toddlers can crawl, walk, and explore in a safe environment, strengthening gross motor skills. Teachers lead fun movement games like “Follow the Leader” or rolling balls, encouraging toddlers to interact with their peers while developing balance and coordination.
After lunch and a restful nap, the afternoon includes sensory activities like exploring water, sand, or textured materials, which help toddlers make sense of the world around them. Creative activities, such as playing with musical instruments or dancing to songs, encourage self-expression and joy. Teachers support budding social-emotional skills by modelling sharing, turn-taking, and empathy during group play. The day concludes with quiet storytime or gentle exploration of puzzles and toys, helping toddlers wind down before heading home. The Caterpillars-1 programme is designed to balance exploration, routine, and nurturing care, making each day a blend of fun and learning.
